CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
TUMBLING
Tumbling is a fundamental component of Chinese dance, focusing on floor-based movements that involve rolling, front and back walkovers, flipping, and twisting. Students practice tumbling sequences and combinations, learning proper technique and body control to execute skills safely and effectively.
LEVEL 1
Children ages 4 to 6 begin an exciting journey into the world of dance. Through fun activities and games, they learn basic dance techniques such as body positions, simple footwork, and introductory hand movements. These classes focus on building coordination, spatial awareness, and a passion for movement.
LEVEL 2
For dancers ages 7 to 8 who are eager to broaden their dance vocabulary and further develop their skills and body readiness for the next level. In these classes, students delve deeper into the world of dance, mastering more complex footwork combinations, improving flexibility through stretching exercises, and nurturing their creativity through exploration and expression.
LEVEL 3
As dancers advance to Level 3 between ages 9 and 11, they encounter classes that push them with dynamic body movements and expressive gestures aimed at conveying emotions and narratives. These sessions also introduce students to elements of Chinese Dance, including techniques like breathing incorporated into body movements. Emphasizing flexibility, strength, and rhythmic accuracy, Level 3 dancers cultivate abilities and self-assurance needed to articulate themselves gracefully and precisely through dance.
LEVEL 4
In Level 4 dance classes, students ages 12 to 14 continue their journey in dance with a deeper exploration of Chinese Dance elements. Building upon their foundational skills from previous levels, dancers refine their techniques and expand their repertoire with intricate movements inspired by traditional Chinese dance forms. Emphasis is placed on mastering advanced footwork patterns, intricate hand gestures, and graceful body movements that convey cultural storytelling and symbolism. Additionally, students further develop their understanding of breath control and energy flow, integrating these elements seamlessly into their performances. LEVEL 5
Designed for experienced dancers ages 15 to 18 dedicated to elevating their skills in Chinese Dance to a professional level. In these advanced classes, students delve deeply into the artistry and technical precision of traditional Chinese dance forms, mastering complex choreography and nuanced movements that require strength, flexibility, and emotional expression. Dancers refine their performance abilities, focusing on dynamic storytelling, character portrayal, and stage presence. Level 5 dancers also explore specialized techniques such as classical Chinese dance styles like classical ballet and folk dance, as well as contemporary fusion styles that blend traditional and modern elements. Through rigorous training and artistic exploration, Level 5 dancers emerge as versatile performers with a deep appreciation for the cultural heritage and artistic traditions of Chinese dance.
ADULT CLASSES
Adults of all ages and experience levels are welcomed to enroll in classes. A free consulation will be scheduled with new students to discuss goals and to determine which class is the best match. Individual lessons are also available for beginning adult students, which is an ideal way to establish fundational skills prior to joining a class. Committed students will have many opportunities for growth, mastery, and live performance.
